John brings over 35 years of corporate management and international experience having lived and worked both in North America and overseas. John has worked for large companies aggressively managing large business units, leading productive growth and profitability. His experience includes opening overseas offices and manufacturing facilities.
John has also successfully managed and worked with numerous smaller technology firms launching their initiatives into the marketplace, creating viability and value. He has been regularly involved in the transfer, licensing and patenting of technologies as part of his activities. John is an expert in the dissolution and deployment of gases in liquids for all applications.
Sam Kanes, VP Business Development, Director

From 1987 to 2011, Sam was Scotia Capital’s Managing Director of Equity Research for fertilizer, chemical, biofuel, and energy infrastructure companies. Before Scotia Capital, Sam gained a wide range of corporate financial experience with Northern Telecom, Gulf Canada and Petro-Canada. He has also worked as an independent energy consultant, primarily for Ultramar Canada.
Sam is a member of both the Audit and Compensation committees, as well as a Board, Audit, and Investment Committee member of BioIndustrial Innovations Canada.
Michael Boyd, Chairman of the Board

Mike is a seasoned investment management executive with experience managing venture capital, private equity and traditional and high yield debt securities. His experience includes companies at all stages of development from start-ups to mature buyout situations. Mike has a background in strategic management, board processes and governance having experience on many boards, as chair of the audit, compensation or governance committees.
Vincent Scalisi, Director
Vince is the Founder and CEO of Inbox Fitness, a leading e-retailer of health and fitness products, including nutritional supplements, exercise equipment, fitness apparel and accessories, and a variety of organic and natural nutrition products. Prior to Inbox Fitness, Vince was the Chief Marketing Officer of Iovate Health Sciences International, one of Canada’s largest supplements companies, from 2005 to 2012. Prior to Iovate, Vince was the chief editor of Weider Bros.’ NA fitness magazines.
Dr. Gord Surgeoner, Director
Ph.D. Forest Entomology, Michigan State U
After attaining his PHD in 1976, Gord became an esteemed professor at the University of Guelph in Environmental Biology and Plant Agriculture until 2004. From 1999 to 2014, Gord was the President of Ontario Agri-Food Technologies (OAFT). He continues to work on sustainability initiatives on Boards such as Agriculture Research Institute of Ontario, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, and the Advisory Bio-Products Research and Development Centre. Gord was elected to Ontario's Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2014.
Dr. Murray McLaughlin, Scientific Advisor

Murray was recognized in 2017 as Canada's leading Bioeconomy voice in the top 100 Bioeconomy Survey worldwide. He is the past CEO of the Sustainable Chemistry Alliance and BioIndustrial Innovations Canada, Deputy Minister of Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food, and CEO and President of Foragen Venture Capital, an early seed stage fund for agriculture that was headquartered in Guelph. He has participated in numerous international conferences and forums on behalf of Canada's Bioeconomy industry and is a Co-Chair with AAFC Canada on the Bioproducts Value Chain Roundtable.
Dr. Matthew Julius, Scientific Advisor

Matt is a Professor of Biology at Minnesota based St. Cloud State University. He has previously worked with us on dissolved CO2 gas algae applications. He rejoins us as a Science Advisor to provide plant nutrition advice to our master growers and clients. Matt will also provide scientific research through St. Cloud State University pertaining to plant growth research using our CO2 foliar spray to maximize plant growth to genetic limits.
